Georgina, I think I've got a solution for you... Your Oracle stuff is only run when $submit = 'Submit': if ($submit == "Submit") { //oracle stuff } The problem is, your form isn't passing the $search variable to your PHP script. Your submit button HTML tag is: <input type="submit" value="Submit"> The value's there, but not the variable name. You need to include 'name' in the input tag, i.e. <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"> Your PHP and SQL look fine. It should work if you do the above... :) Chris }:) (also at cdr9@aber.ac.uk - good to see someone at Aber using PHP!) > -----Original Message----- > From: GEORGINA ELAINE BAILEY [SMTP:geb97@aber.ac.uk] > Sent: Sunday, October 07, 2001 10:17 AM > To: php-db@lists.php.net > Subject: [PHP-DB] PHP and Oracle > > I am very new to PHP and databases and have not really had very much > programming practice.
