We're having an unusually odd problem with our PHP to PostgreSQL 7.0.2
server from only 1 server. Other servers work without any problems.
Issue: connections to the db server using pg_pconnect() abnormally
terminate. After about 3 minutes (w/the same browser), a new connection will
establish and work for a very short period of time. Seems to have something
to do with new browser output, as we have created a test script that
processes over 200 re-connects in a burst. Each time this script is run, all
output either succeeds or fails on each refresh.
pg_connect() seems to either not fail at all, or only occasionally.
Starting a new browser (and effectively a new connection), the connections
will work from 1 to 20 or so times successfully and then fail - even though
the original browser continues to fail.
It has been noted that when this connect fails, there is no further network
traffic to the db server.
All other servers with identical configuration (as far as we can tell) have
no problems with this.
