It was as I expected. I changed LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the system-wide profile
and everything ran smoothly.

Subject: lilphp4.so cannot find libsydb.so.0 on apache start
Hello everyone,
I have PHP/Apache/Linux trying to connect to MSSQL2k. I took advice from
the comments on the www.php.net page, and installed freetds. Then I
configured php like this:
./configure --with-mysql \
--enable-inline-optimization \
--enable-sockets \
--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache1319/bin/apxs \
--with-sybase=/usr/local/freetds
I did install freetds in /usr/local/freetds. In fact, the module is there,
without a zero byte filesize. I know it's there, in fact it's about 254k.
I followed the INSTALL file from the freetds distro exactly. I DO have the
SetEnv SYBASE /usr/local/freetds line in my httpd.conf.
No errors came from the configure, make or make install steps for PHP. Same
with freetds. Everything appeared to go without a hitch.
Also, I compiled freetds like this: ./configure --with-tdsver=7.0
IMHO, it sounds like this is my problem:
$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:$SYBASE/lib
This is a step out of the INSTALL file in the distro. However, I DID export
those variables in my root shell. Do I need to update this variable for
Apache? How do I do this?
Thanks for reading,
-Brian
