what command are you using to compile apache? if you can't restart the
server then there is probably something in httpd.conf that is crashing
when you restart apachectl. when you do apachectl restart do you get a
message in the command line? apache error logs? what command did you use
to compile php? are you sure MySQL is actually running on your
server? did you install it yourself? If so did you go through the
testing procedures to make sure it was running properly? are
you using php as a module? Make sure that libexec/phplib.so (name may
be a little off) does exist and is in the location httpd.conf is
looking. if not then it will fail. Did you change anything else in
httpd.conf?
give us some more details and we can give you some direction.
