Slow Load Time

I have written a script for my work that looks up parts in a catalog (MySQL DB) and displays them based on user selected categories, and keywords. Everything is working fine, except for the load time when a person selects all categories... on a framed page. I have gone over my code, and when all categories is selected it takes about 2.5 seconds to run and finish displaying the page with all 1000 or so parts (on my shared DSL connection). Our webpage, however, has a drop down menu in its own frame which uses DHTML (Don't blame me for this stupidity... I inherited it =P ). When I open my utility via the webpage (and within a frame) and select all the categories it takes roughy 45 seconds to load. Has anyone seen this behavior before?
