Fatal emalloc errors

I'm using php-3.0.16 through apache 1.3.12. My db is msql 2.0.11 and
the app I'm trying to use is imp. The error I keep getting in the error
log is
FATAL: emalloc(): Unable to allocate 4026525241 bytes
What I'm doing shouldn't come anywhere near that total. This happens
when I click on a link to an e-mail message. The browser responds with
a document contained no data error and the above message appears in the
log.
Has anyone seen anything like this?
