Aletia.com has given me and a lot of others the 3 most important things: 1) Excellent Hosting - The features are great, servers are kept up to date, downtime is zero, ability to host up to 3 different domains on one account for free (3 different sites - not just 3 different domains pointing at the same site), the list goes on and on... 2) Excellent Support - E-mail support is fast and reliable with their ticket systems. Most responses are sent within the hour, and the ticket stays open until it's resolved (LiquidWeb had a bad habit of closing the ticket as soon as they responded the first time, and their replies never answered my question - what a horrible hosting experience LiquidWeb was). Aletia also offers quick-answers via AIM or ICQ. They also have a site called AletiaForums.com where you can ask further pre-sales questions, ask for support questions, or you can just get to know the other customers. 3) Excellent Price - I pay $9.95 a month for 200 megs of space, 10 gigs of transfer, dedicated IP, unlimited POP3 boxes, MySQL, PHP4 (both get updated regularly), CGI-BIN, SSI, SSH, FTP accounts, multi-hosted domains, etc, etc, all controlled by CPanel on a high-end, Red Hat server. Overall, they're the best host I've ever had so far, and I've gone through a number of them. And to answer future questions, no I don't work for them or am biased in any way other than being a happy customer for 7 months now. - Jonathan -----Original Message----- From: Lisi [mailto:lists@shemeshdirectory.co.il] Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 4:14 AM To: php-db@lists.php.net Subject: [PHP-DB] hosts There was a discussion on the list a few weeks ago about reliable web hosts offering PHP and MySQL support. I did not need the info then but it has become relevant now. I'd appreciate if people could re-post recommendations, if someone has a compiled list, even better.
