Well, if you had posted some code, someone might have seen the error... :(
Anyway, here is how i do it:
if($db = mysql_pconnect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpasswd)){
mysql_select_db($dbname, $db);
} else {
echo mysql_error();
exit;
}
