Question about mssql_fetch_object()

I've tried using mssql_fetch_object() but get the folowing error
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mssql_fetch_object()
I saw the comment on the php website saying 'mssql_fetch_object does not
work with php4pl2' has anyone any more information. Is it a php problem or
have I missed something in the installation?
