I keep hearing this from people (not to store images in mysql), but I would like to hear a bit more about why. Mysql has blob fields, so it seems perfectly reasonable to use them, doesn't it? I'm storing some images in a database and what's attractive to me about it is that I can put the images anywhere I like. I guess I could mount an image directory over NFS, but it seems easier and more consistent to use sql. Any thoughts on this?
