Porting MySql lib to Postgres

Hi everyone, I am trying to port a simple mysql library to postgres. Most mysql functions have direct counterparts as postgres functions. However, the function that i am having problems porting is mysql_affected_rows() which has no postgres equivalent. Does anyone have any ideas on workarounds?
