Thanks very much for telling me about var_dump($_POST). My problem was
self-inflicted
(as most are, right?) - I had pulled the variable names from the page PRIOR
to the referring page,
and forgotten that they had been renamed in the form (shortened them) after
I used them to populate the form
fields to be submitted/updated. You really saved me some grief, thanks
again!

Yes, I'm a rookie, and that was a rookie mistake :)
