Hi,
I am an intermediate PHP user.
I am interested in setting up a news manager for a website.
I have only went through PHP books so far so i have an idea of how to do
this... please let me know if my concept is correct.. or what i am missing
in my plan.
Something like this:
http://www.maccentral.com
How they have the time, and a link that takes you to a page.
How would you do this?
My guess would be this..
Setup a table in MySQL with 3 fields.
news_time
news_header (for link title)
news_content (content that is filled into an html template after the header
is clicked)
so an example from the page i listed above would be:
news_time: 9:20 pm
news_header: WebsiteCompressor update fixes bugs
news_content: (the article that is displayed when you click the news
header.)
Is this correct?
This might sound stupid but i havent seen it in any tutorials or anything..
but how would i make the news header a link? and how would i make that link
pull out the news_content for that header and format it into the template??
Would i use a GET?
I have no clue what maccentral uses.
but i am sure i could do this with php and mysql.

Also, if someone was a news editor and typed out an article.
would i just tell them to put newline characters in wherever they wanted a
paragraph break when they are insterting the article into the database?
Thanks guys!
Dave
