grouping a mysql datetime col by month?

This is a continuation from my last post a I was wondering after looking
at my db if you can group by the month part of the datetime stamp I use
in my MySql db
so the sql would probably look like this
select * from table group by datetime[month]
So that all month 08 is group and 09 and 10 and so on.
I can't find a simple answer to this so I beg your guidance.
