berkeley db2: driver initialization failed

I am getting the following error: Warning: driver initialization failed in /home/paul/html/counter.php on line 4 My code is like so: $dbid = dba_open("/tmp/test.db", "c", "db2"); // this is line 4 if ($dbid) { .....whatever.... } I have php 4.0.1pl2 installed. It was configured like so: ./configure --with-db2 --disable-debug --enable-magic-quotes --enable-track-vars --with-mysql --enable-inline-optimization --enable-trans-sid --with-apxs=/usr/bin/apxs The phpinfo() command states this: dba V1 ($Id: dba.c,v 1.19 2000/06/27 22:25:27 jah Exp $) db2 My config: uname: Linux paul 2.2.15 #1 Wed May 10 16:23:55 PDT 2000 i686 unknown Apache: Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) Debian/GNU PHP/4.0.1pl2 $ apache -l Compiled-in modules: http_core.c mod_so.c mod_macro.c The db2/sleepycat libraries are installed through debian packages: $ dpkg -l|grep libdb2 ii libdb2 2.4.14-2.7.7.1 The Berkeley database routines (run-time fil ii libdb2-dev 2.4.14-2.7.7.1 The Berkeley database routines (development ii libdb2-util 2.4.14-2.7.7.1 The Berkeley database routines (development I'm having the same problem on two other machines, similarly configured. It was owrking at one point. gdbm works okay, but db3 (compiled from source) doesn't.
