PHP4 and Sybase?

I'm having some difficulty getting PHP4 on FreeBSD to use Sybase's ctlib
to talk to a Sybase ASE running on a Linux server. Has anyone had any
experience getting PHP to talk to a Sybase database that was not on the
same host?
