Hi Jan,
In general, I agree with your opinion.
I have to do some complex algorithms with the data I retrieve from the data
base. My strategy so far is to retrieve the data from oracle into PHP arrays
and them work just with the arrays. The queries are quite complex, so I am
now considering moving some of the work to Oracle PLSQL procedure, which (I
think) are already parsed.
And I use persistent conexions, which also save a lot of time.
What worries me is memory occupation. My PHP arrays are unidimensional (for
faster speed) and may have 10000 rows, and I need 5 of them at the same
time.
I will be doing some performance tests soon and if you are interested I will
send the conclusions to the list.
Also, I wonder if PHP arrays (being associative) are slower than C arrays. I
would like to think that if you access the array such as $data[0], $data[1],
etc it works as a non-associative array. Do you know if this is right ?

You can do some bindings with Oracle, but not array binding.
Pedro.
