I've tried to set up Sybase with PHP on Linux, with the following
configuration:
Apache/1.3.12, PHP/4.0.2 and Sybase 11.0.3.3
PHP seems to be working fine, but there must be something wrong with
the sybase setup (or php/sybase config). A simple testscript like
this:
<?php
echo "Hi, I'm a PHP script!";
$db=sybase_connect("foo","bar","baz");
?>
gives me this result:
Hi, I'm a PHP script!
Warning: Sybase: Server message: Cannot find the requested character
set in Syscharsets: name = 'cp43\
7'.
(severity 11, procedure N/A) in /opt/apache/htdocs/bbvc/test.php on

Warning: Sybase: Server message: No conversions will be

Warning: Sybase: Server message: Changed database context to
'master'. (severity 10, procedure N/A) i\

but according to sybinit:
Current default language: us_english
Current default character set: ISO 8859-1 (Latin-1) - Western
European
8-b character set.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
