can't drop tmp table

Hi there,
I am trying to drop a tmp table after using it. Unfortunatelly the mysql db
gives me a error msg. The command can't be that wrong, since it is the same
as in the online manual ?!
I do get this message back:
Occured during executing DROP TEMPORARY TABLE IF EXISTS changes statement
Error: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'TEMPORARY TABLE IF
EXISTS changes ' at line 2
Has anybody an idea, or does see what I can't see??
