Hi,
when I installed PHP 4.0.2 I used (besides others) the following
configuration options:
--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql
--with-config-file-path=/usr/local/apache
In the PHP.INI I have a statement like this:
mysql.default_socket = /var/local/mysql/mysql.sock
Unless I do a 'ln -s /var/local/mysql/mysql.sock /tmp/mysql.sock'
access to my MySql server fails with an error message like this:
"cannot connect to server localhost via socket /tmp.mysql.sock"
When I switched from PHP 3.0.16 to PHP 4.0.1pl2 I encountered the
same odd thing but healed it with the mysql.default_soccket in the
PHP.INI. This time it does not seem to work. And I do not believe
that creating a link to the real socket is really the way. Why did
work before? I could have omitted a certain configuration option,
but if so, I cannot remember it. I need a clue, please.
Can anyone tell me where I am missing the point?
Cheers,
Arne
