You have to compile with flag --with-oci8 using Oracle 8 and over:
--with-oracle flag is for Oracle7.
Ensure ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME and others Oracle environment vars are
exported in your apache configuration file "/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd" (for
RedHat) or "/etc/rc.d/init.d/functions" (for RedHat).
