Hello all,
I'm developing an application that front-ends "restricted" operations
for our development staff. (in our environment "restricted" means table
truncations, process kills etc.).
The application will need to connect to numerous Sybase, Oracle and
MS-SQL Server servers. I have a few questions:
* The constructor for MySQL takes host, user-id and password as parms.
The Sybase and Oracle ones don't. How do I change servers, id's and
passwords "on the fly". In other words, first I'll need to connect to
server-1, then server-2 and then maybe back to server-1.
* The Oracle (and OCI8) .inc files have a disconnect() function that
issues a OCILogoff. There is nothing like this in the sybase.inc file
and therefore (it appears) that the connections to the Sybase server
stay there forever. Should there be a disconnect() for Sybase?
* I'd like to use the built-in Perm module, but I can't use simple bits
to represent the security (there are too may combinations). I have the
security implemented within a table of my database. Can I just "extend"
the Auth class and the override the default implementation of the
functions with my own?
TIA,
Frank
