I usually use date() and mktime() to insert an 'expiration' date for the
record. Then, I have a cron job that calls a php script which just
deletes the records with 'expiration' dates prior to today. (MySQL has a
CURRENTDATE() fucntion...I forget the exact name..). I've had no
problems with it. Hope this helps!
