As I understand it, mysql communicates with other processes via a socket. The socket is based on a file (in your case /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock). If you accidently delete this file, you cannot communicate with mysql anymore. My advice: Shutdown and restart the mysql server and check whether or not the socket file has been created. I can access mysql on the box and i know the user/pass is correct, does anyone have any ideas why i should be getting this error? It doesn't log any errors in mysql either.. -- Daniel "Trebz" Nolan Developer @ www.barrysworld.com Mob : 07909 511617 Business : 01924 422331 -- PHP Database Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: php-db-unsubscribe@lists.php.net For additional commands, e-mail: php-db-help@lists.php.net To contact the list administrators, e-mail: php-list-admin@lists.php.net
