Hi all,
at first excuse the poor english :)
I meet problems to install PHP4 with support for Oracle 8i and MySQL
on a linux box.
I finally found what was wrong with my config : that was'nt Oracle
the problem but MySQL. Here follows the output generated by 'ldd -d' :
/etc/httpd/modules/libphp4.so:
libpam.so.0 => /lib/libpam.so.0 (0x40137000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x4013f000)

libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x40850000)

I thought compress and uncompress were linked to Oracle libs but in
fact it is to MySQL libs. Then I've got two questions :
* why PHP 4.0.3pl1 tries always to build MySQL support, even if I
doesn't ask it explicitly ?
* I installed MySQL with RedHat's RPM (my linuxbox is a RedHat 6.2
distro), the version I used is MySQL-3.23.26-beta.I've installed 3
packages : My-SQL-3.23*.rpm ,MySQL-devel*.rpm, and MySQL-client*.rpm .
The files listed in the devel package are the following:
/usr/bin/comp_err
/usr/bin/mysql_config
/usr/include/mysql
/usr/include/mysql/chardefs.h
/usr/include/mysql/dbug.h
/usr/include/mysql/errmsg.h
/usr/include/mysql/history.h
/usr/include/mysql/keymaps.h
/usr/include/mysql/m_ctype.h
/usr/include/mysql/m_string.h
/usr/include/mysql/my_global.h
/usr/include/mysql/my_list.h
/usr/include/mysql/my_net.h
/usr/include/mysql/my_no_pthread.h
/usr/include/mysql/my_pthread.h
/usr/include/mysql/my_sys.h
/usr/include/mysql/mysql.h
/usr/include/mysql/mysql_com.h
/usr/include/mysql/mysql_version.h
/usr/include/mysql/mysqld_error.h
/usr/include/mysql/raid.h
/usr/include/mysql/readline.h
/usr/include/mysql/sslopt-case.h
/usr/include/mysql/sslopt-longopts.h
/usr/include/mysql/sslopt-usage.h
/usr/include/mysql/sslopt-vars.h
/usr/include/mysql/tilde.h
/usr/lib/mysql
/usr/lib/mysql/libdbug.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libheap.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libmerge.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libmyisam.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libmyisammrg.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.la
/usr/lib/mysql/libmystrings.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysys.a
/usr/lib/mysql/libnisam.a
When PHP4 is compiled with support for MySQL (enven with the bundled
support or header & lib files from MySQL) everything went ok. But when I
run the httpd daemon with PHP4 as a DSO, it can't load the module
because of undefined references to compress and uncompress. Is there
something wrong with my install of MySQL ? Or with the header files ?
Finally I solve the problem by compiling & installing MySQL out of the
tarball, and using the option '--with-mysql=/path/to/new-mysql' to build
PHP.
thanks in advance for reading this.
