Hi,
If the hosting company allow you to place a daemon on bkground
that will be a solution. But your situation even worse - you cannot
access shell. However you can still have an alternative solution:
1. On your local side you setup a regular ftp to send the updating
file to the remote host on a certain time interval.
2. Also on your local side you can setup a regular web page
acccessing-bot, this bot will access a certain page. You can use
Visual C to write one, but i think there will be easier solution
for regular accessing a certain web page. This page-loading will
activate a php script to handle the mysql database updadting with
the updating file.
Hope this can be a solution for you.
