php4 just crashes everything

Php4 has a major problem.....if you get a corrupted table anywhere...
(mysql)
php4 eats all your ram and swap to the point your webserver crashes.
THen you look in the error logs and it tells you how it was unable
to kill of it;s children. This is a really high traffic site...but to eat
250 megs of ram and megs of swap in unheard of.....
