Length of variables

I try reading a MEMO type MS-Access DB field into a string variable. But I
only receive the 4095 first characters. I wonder if there's a technical
problem or if the size of string variables is limited to anything about
4095. I'm now looking for a way either to read the whole MEMO-field at once
or any workarround reading and displaying the MEMO-field in chunks.
