Can someone let me know, what happened to the
PHP-general list? Hopefully, someone can forward
me to the right place for my question.
Thanks a lot,

The issue:
Although this works from the command line, I am not able to
get the mail content when I pipe the mail to this script using
my sendmail aliases. On the other hand, the same method works
fine with a simple cgi-script!
Examples:
------------- my PHP script -----------------
#!/usr/local/bin/php -q
<?
// $fp = fopen("php://stdin", "r");
$fp = fopen("/dev/stdin", "r"); // for older PHP versions
while(($buf=fgets($fp, 512)) != false) {
$content .= $buf;
}
// now the whole mail should be in $content
// ... process and save content...
?>
--------- my CGI script ----------------------
#!/bin/sh
#
# read stdin
while read LINE
do
FROM=${LINE}
break
done
# now $FROM contains the sender emailaddress...
# ...
