File upload

Hi, I am developing a web site that needs to receive some files from http clients, along with some informations, and put them into a mysql database. At this moment, we present to the client a form where he fills the informations and selects a file with <INPUT FILE=""> tag. The problem is that he can´t know if the file is coming or see a evolution graphic or something else. A php script processes all the info and file and records it on the database. Does anyone knows any other way to pass to a php script a file from a client? Tia, Rilson
