Hello! I've been attempting to get the latest release of PHP to work with MySQL on my Linux system, but so far to no avail. I've tried seemingly everything, and I'm wondering if anyone on the list might be able to help. Originally, I installed MySQL using the RPM, but due to a known bug, PHP was not able to find the needed header files to complete the usual --with-mysql installation. I then uninstalled the RPMs and tried the MySQL tarball. Unfortunately, the mysql_connect() function still does not work, even though I have reinstalled PHP using the --with-mysql=/usr/local (the correct path), and restarted Apache. I combed through the output of configure, make, and make install, and found no errors for either MySQL or PHP. I suspect that one of the following is happening: - PHP is installing but not paying attention to the options I give, perhaps because it's not completely removed - Some kind of auto-detect in PHP is trying to install in a certain way - I haven't completely removed PHP, and it's not actually reinstalling anything If anyone on the list can help, I'd really appreciate it. I checked the archives, but did not see this problem (there were people who forgot the --with-mysql line, but that isn't the problem here- believe me, I'm putting it in!) :-) Thank you very much in advance for any help. Sincerely, David Lobron dlobron@world.std.com
