I've found a solution to my own problem. There's a new version of FreeTDS
(0.51) that was recently released. Installing that fixed the problem (sort
of). NULLs are now returned as empty strings, which makes it difficult to
determine if a field is really NULL, or just empty, but my immediate problem
is solved.
