Hi. I think, this question was posed quite often, but I didn't find a good answer in the archives... The problem: I'm trying to compile PHP (4.0.3pl1) on BSD/OS 4.1 with Oracle Support. Now, I thought, PHP knew about Oracle-specific stuff, but it doesn't. 'configure' is asking for the installed Oracle-DB. But the Oracle-DB is running on another WinNT-System and I am not sure, if they have any header files lying around there. Is it nescessary to have Oracle locally available to compile PHP or is there a way to work around. It would contradict to my understanding of 'Database Access over Network' in which I should not be required to know everything about the database internals in order to compile something to communicate with the database. Could I use some generic DB support to have a kind of limited access to an Oracle DB ?? Thanks, ~~~:-Jochen Schnapka -- Miksch's Law: If a string has one end, then it has another end.
