In the following article Tim Perdue compares mysql and pgsql
http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/tim20001112.php3
and mentions that the database and web server (apache/php) were both run
on the same machine, and better to keep the database and web server
seperate for maximim performance.
I an trying to figure out the role played by the network overheads when
the servers are kept seperate and how *_connect and *_pconnect differ in
these circumstances.
