Sorting alphabetically

Thanks everyone for helping me with the resolution problems, its sorted now! Q. How do I sort a list of names onto a page into a table in alphabetical order? I am doing a link database and require that I have a list of catagorie names in alphabetical order with the links listed alphabetically underneath each heading. Also, you may have guessed I am a newbe?!?!, how do I allow people to search this directory via a search box? And also to search seperate catagories? Any help would be brilliant!
