Yep. This one got me. /var/lib/mysql had these permissions: drwx------ Changed to: drwx-r-x-r-x Worked like a charm. The file permissions are good... ok, now check each directory up to mysql.loc /var /var/lib /var/lib/mysql Does the world have read and execute perms on all of the above (hehe made a funny)?
