The PHP functions for connecting to databases are the same in Windows and
Unix. You only need to know what type database (MySQL, Microsoft SQL
Server, ODBC, etc..) you want to connect to figure which functions to use.
If you are having trouble to figure it, maybe you would like to use this
PHP database abstraction package - Metabase. You use the same functions to
access any of the supported types of databases. You just need to pass
database specific parameters on setup. These are detailed in Metabase
manual.
