Hi,
How exactly did you call the function mysql_connect(); ?. We need to know
how you actually use this function to tell what is the problem. Perhaps you
should post a snipplet of your code.
Otherwise you can take a look at how phpMyAdmin is connecting to your DB for
some clues :)
