Bug description: No Makefile gets created in subdirectory libzend
Configure script completes successfully, however when I do a make I find out that subdirectory
libzend contains no Makefile and aborts. Looking into config.log in libzend dir, I find that the
problem is that I do not have flex installed and configure defaults to -ll which I am assuming is
the lib for lex which does not exist either. This causes the libzend configure script to bomb out
without creating a Makefile. I would think the main configure script should abort at this time and
tell the user that neither flex nor lex is installed.
