I remember raising this question when John first introduced the gdttf stuff to the vanilla GD distribution. The approach that would be easiest for everyone would be that the next PHP version would just require the latest GD, and we could manage with a single copy of gdttf. There's of course a tiny imperfection with that plan -- the latest GD doesn't do GIFs. So, ruling that one out, we are left with keeping the gdttf.c files in sync or going our separate ways. My hope is that John could find the time to manage PHP's gdttf.c file in addition to that of GD's. He's obviously the person best equipped for the task. How about it? About other hacks to the gdttf source of the php tree since 3.0.7, I don't consider them essential in the long run. Marko
