But isn't PHP4 going to be able to unserialize PHP3 serialized objects?
It's not my case, but I'm afraid that there is already many people storing
PHP3 serialized data in databases. If PHP4 is not able to unserialize data
serialized by PHP3, people's applications will break in PHP 4 and they
might not want to move to PHP 4 because of that.
I noticed this problem because I am using serialization to cache data
structures built by parsing XML data. There seems to remain some problem
with PHP4's XML parser code, so the parser trashes my data structures.
I could not reproduce this behaviour with a simple script. That's why I
haven't filled a report for this XML problem. Maybe someone else will
figure it soon or later.
So, I just ran PHP3 to parse and cache
