Okay, I upgraded my PHP to 3.0.12, my apache is 1.3.9,
mySQL is 3.22.26a.
My mySQL sock is being created at
/usr/local/mysql-3.22.26a-pc-linux-gnu-i686/data/mysql.sock
I try to redirect mysql_connect to the location of my sock:
mysql_connect("localhost:/usr/local/mysql-3.22.26a-pc-
linux-gnu-i686/data/mysql.sock");
but now I get the error:
MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server
through socket '/usr/local/mysql-3.22.26a-pc-linux-gnu-i686/
data/mysql.sock' (111) in /usr/htdocs/corn.php3 on line 20
Unable to connect to database
so redirecting mysql_connect to the new sock location, I still
cannot connect to mysql
I can connect to mysql through this socket with regular
command line usage
Any suggestions???

In recent versions of PHP you can specify the location of this Unix Domain socket in the mysql_connect() call.
