seems that you don't have installed gd or on the wrong place on your system maybe this wil work else try to execute setup and give gd the proriate place ./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.9 --enable-track-vars --with-gd=/dir/to/gd P.S. if fixed after this close the bug report (i can't close it)

Configure line : ./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.9 --enable-track-vars
