File not found warning in fopen

When I do a fopen it gives warning file not found in the script path.
Any idea how do I change the file path?
e.g. <b>Warning</b>: fopen("c:\dir\file","r") - No such file or
directory in <b>C:\scriptdir\script</b> on line <b>47</b><br>
