I've been having a discussion with one fellow regarding variables from
outside PHP. What came up boils down to the fact that there is
presently no way to keep incoming get, post, or cookie data from being
placed into the global symbol table without also preventing them from
being placed into $HTTP_*_VARS. i.e. setting 'gpc_order = gpc' and
'track_vars = on' incorporates incoming data into both the symbol
table and $HTTP_*_VARS, but setting 'gpc_order = ' and 'track_vars
= on' means that no incoming variables can be accessed at all.
It has been suggested that a way to allow the $HTTP_*_VARS arrays to
be filled, but not the global symbol table, would be good for forcing
programmers to know where the data is coming from.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?
