Hey folks, A couple of questions related to adding custom functions to PHP. Any advice or links to additional info would be great. 0) I'm writing some functions to access Primebase (www.primebase.com) directly using their API. I have the basics working, but if someone already has this written let me know so I don't waste any more unnecessary effort. Connecting via ODBC is not an option because I need to support Mac OS X Server. If no one else has done this, I'd like to share the source when I get the kinks out. 1) Due to my limited experience with unix programming, and what seems like zero documentation, I had trouble getting my functions to actually get called by PHP. First, I created my new source files in functions/ using mysql.c and others as examples, then I had to modify internal_functions.c to include my functions in PHP's "php3_builtin_modules" table (this seemed like a very bad thing to do, because updating to a newer version of PHP will be a hassle). Finally I had to mess up the make process to link the Primebase API libraries in with the "ar" command. I should mention that all of this is with 3.0.12. 2) The process for PHP 4.0 seems more straight forward (using the ext_skel script), but I am unable to get PHP 4.0b3 compiled (using apxs). All I'm doing is ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs. The result of make is "libs/libphp4.a", although it's expecting "libphp4.so". This is also on Mac OS X Server. I'd prefer not to recompile Apache if I can avoid it. Thanks! ____________________________________________________
