Don't worry about these on Windows. The standard crypt() function on Unix
is multi-faceted on some Unix systems. The output from the function
depends on the salt you feed it. And on some systems the default is not
the standard DES encryption. The test cases I added today runs crypt() in
different ways and tries to discover what sort of capabilities the native
crypt() function has. It will define these 4 different macros depending
on how many different types of encryptions the crypt() function is found
to support.
We could go nuts and try to implement the other 3 encryption mechanisms on
Windows, but I really don't think it is required. The standard DES with
the 2-character salt is likely to be more than enough on Windows.
There is of course nothing stopping us from grabbing the source to these
other algorithms if someone feels really keen. A good reference is:
http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/lib/libc/crypt/
If you want to understand more about the algorithms behind the other
encryption mechanisms.
