From: schmit@athenet.net Operating system: Red Hat 6.1 PHP version: 4.0 Beta 3 PHP Bug Type: Compile Failure Bug description: Cannot compile php4 with mySQL RPMs I'm trying to install PHP4 beta on my Red Hat 6.1 box with mySQL support. I installed the mySQL 3.22 RPMs from the mySQL site, and all works well there. I installed the mySQL server, client, and devel RPMs, which from what I'm reading in the docs is all I need. When attempting to build the 4.0b3 PHP code, I get the following error in my log for the make all command: Making all in mysql make[3]: Entering directory `/usr/RPMS/php-4.0b3/ext/mysql' /bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --mode=compile gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../.. -I../../libzend -I../.. -I../../libzend -I/usr/include/apache -I/usr/include/mysql -I../.. -I../../libzend -g -O2 -g -O2 -c php_mysql.c /bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --mode=link gcc -g -O2 -g -O2 -o mysql.la -avoid-version -module -rpath /usr/RPMS/php-4.0b3/modules php_mysql.lo -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient *** Warning: This library needs some functionality provided by -lmysqlclient. *** I have the capability to make that library automatically link in when *** you link to this library. But I can only do this if you have a *** shared version of the library, which you do not appear to have. *** Warning: libtool could not satisfy all declared inter-library *** dependencies of module mysql. Therefore, libtool will create *** a static module, that should work as long as the dlopening *** application is linked with the -dlopen flag. make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/RPMS/php-4.0b3/ext/mysql' I used the following configure on my system: ./configure --with-apxs --enable-versioning --with-mysql --enable-track-cvars After the fact, I edited the paths in the ext/mysql/Makefile to ensure the proper mySQL directories (it used /usr/local, when the RPMs install under /usr) Any ideas? I'm desperate here!
