Even though 1) might be the cooler solution, I think it will be a maintenance nightmare unless we have some idiot-proof rules for figuring out what goes in the various header files. I think it wil be far too easy to put some symbol in the wrong header file and thus break external builds without realizing it. I don't see any real drawback in just installing all the header files except the ones that are obviously tied to a specific extension like php_gd.h. -Rasmus
