I reinstalled Mandrake and this time NIS/yp stuff was installed, along
with bind-devel IIRC.
I've tried this 500 different ways, over different kernels (and run into
compile errors on 2.3.x) and it all pukes with PHP3 active, usually with
something about mysql... I comment out the php3 module, and Apache runs.
MySQL from source RPM, MySQL binaries, etc etc and it drives me bonkers.
Is it entirely possible that Mandrake 7.0 has something wrong with *its*
libraries as they compile them and so on? I thought I saw something from
someone else using Mandrake 7.0 who might have had similar problems with
their attempts. Would you say it's worth a shot at trying rpms from the
Cooker development distros, or do you have any suggestions on what I can
do to help debug this? I'll do as much as I can if someone can instruct
me on what to do.
Whoa. Bricktext-like. This is NOT a good sign. I'll be getting the holy
water out now...
Thanks a lot anyway
